INGREDIENTS:

  • 2 to 3 pounds boneless, skinless turkey breast
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)
  • 1 cup low-sugar barbecue sauce
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar (optional, for extra tang)
  • Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

INSTRUCTIONS

Step 1: Preheat and Prepare

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Pat the turkey breast dry with paper towels and place it in a baking dish or roasting pan.
  3. Drizzle olive oil over the turkey breast, rubbing it evenly across the surface.

Step 2: Season the Turkey

  1. In a small bowl, combine garlic powder, smoked paprika, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.
  2. Sprinkle the seasoning mixture evenly over all sides of the turkey breast, gently rubbing it in.

Step 3: Bake the Turkey

  1. Cover the turkey loosely with aluminum foil.
  2. Bake for 30 minutes, then remove the foil.
  3. Brush a generous layer of barbecue sauce over the top of the turkey.
  4. Return to the oven uncovered and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, basting once more with BBQ sauce, until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).

Step 4: Rest and Serve

  1. Remove the turkey from the oven and let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
  2. Slice against the grain for maximum tenderness.
  3. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired and serve warm with your favorite healthy sides.

TIPS:

  • For outdoor cooking, grill the turkey breast over medium heat for 35-45 minutes, turning occasionally and basting with BBQ sauce during the last 10 minutes.
  • Use a meat thermometer to prevent overcooking and ensure juicy results.
  • Pair with roasted vegetables, quinoa, or a fresh coleslaw for a balanced meal.
