- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- Fresh chopped parsley (optional, for garnish)
INSTRUCTIONS
Step 1: Prepare the Hot Dogs
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (or smoker to 250°F if using).
- Slice each hot dog into bite-sized pieces, about 1 inch thick.
- Place the hot dog pieces into a mixing bowl.
Step 2: Season and Sauce
- In the bowl, add BBQ sauce, melted butter, brown sugar, honey, smoked paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder.
- Toss everything together until the hot dog pieces are evenly coated.
- Spread the coated pieces in a single layer on a lined baking sheet or aluminum pan.
Step 3: Bake or Smoke
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25–30 minutes, stirring halfway through, until the edges are caramelized and slightly crisp.
- If using a smoker, cook for 45–60 minutes at 250°F until the sauce thickens and the edges develop a smoky char.
- For extra caramelization, broil for 2–3 minutes at the end (watch carefully to avoid burning).
Step 4: Garnish and Serve
- Remove from the oven or smoker and let cool for a few minutes.
- Sprinkle with fresh chopped parsley if desired.
- Serve warm with toothpicks and extra BBQ sauce for dipping.
TIPS:
- Use turkey or chicken hot dogs for a lighter option.
- Add a pinch of cayenne pepper for heat.
- For a keto-friendly version, use a sugar-free BBQ sauce and substitute a sugar alternative for the brown sugar.
