- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cups low-sodium beef broth
- 1 cup crushed tomatoes
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
INSTRUCTIONS
Step 1: Prepare the Brisket
- Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).
- Pat the beef brisket dry with paper towels and season generously with salt, pepper, smoked paprika, and dried thyme.
- Heat olive oil in a large Dutch oven over medium-high heat.
- Sear the brisket on both sides for 4-5 minutes per side until nicely browned. Remove and set aside.
Step 2: Build the Flavor Base
- In the same pot, add the sliced onion and cook for 3-4 minutes until softened.
- Add minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.
- Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, and beef broth. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer.
Step 3: Slow Cook the Brisket
- Return the seared brisket to the pot, spooning some of the sauce over the top.
- Cover with a lid or tightly with aluminum foil.
- Transfer to the preheated oven and cook for about 3 hours, or until the brisket is fork-tender and reaches an internal temperature of at least 195°F (90°C).
Step 4: Rest and Serve
- Remove the brisket from the oven and let it rest for 15-20 minutes before slicing.
- Slice against the grain for maximum tenderness.
- Spoon the rich cooking sauce over the top and garnish with freshly chopped parsley.
- Serve warm with roasted vegetables or a fresh salad.
TIPS:
- For added nutrition, serve with steamed green beans or roasted carrots.
- You can prepare this brisket a day ahead—flavors deepen even more overnight.
- Trim visible fat before cooking to keep the dish leaner while maintaining flavor.
