  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Parchment paper

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 cup dark chocolate chips
  • Wood chips for smoking (hickory or cherry work well)

INSTRUCTIONS

Step 1: Prepare the Smoker

  1. Preheat your smoker to 325°F (163°C).
  2. Add wood chips according to manufacturer instructions to create consistent smoke.
  3. Lightly grease and line your 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper.

Step 2: Mix the Batter

  1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together melted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth.
  2. Add eggs and vanilla extract, whisking until fully combined.
  3. In a separate bowl, combine flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking powder.
  4. Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture using a spatula.
  5. Stir in the dark chocolate chips.

Step 3: Smoke the Brownies

  1. Pour the batter evenly into the prepared baking pan.
  2. Place the pan in the smoker and close the lid.
  3. Smoke for 40–45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.

Step 4: Cool and Serve

  1. Carefully remove the brownies from the smoker.
  2. Allow them to cool in the pan for at least 15–20 minutes before slicing.
  3. Cut into squares and serve warm or at room temperature.

TIPS:

  • For a stronger smoky flavor, smoke for an additional 5 minutes, keeping a close eye to avoid overbaking.
  • Add chopped walnuts or pecans for extra texture and flavor.
  • Serve with a scoop of vanilla Greek yogurt or a drizzle of dark chocolate for a more decadent dessert.
